Shirley Bassey:
Thought I'd ring you
And tell you I'm in town
Hope to see you
Yes, dinner would be fine
Do you remember
When you and I first met?
I know I do
Do You?
Alain Delon:
Oh non, je n'ai rien oublié
Oh no, I haven't forgot
Rien oublié de cette étrange fille
Anything of this strange life
That came to cross my life and my town
Anything either of this odd night
Dans nous sommes sortis, je crois
After which we became, I think
Amis?
Friends?
Shirley Bassey:
Lost and confused
Whatever could I do
Nothing to lose
Oh, don't you see I trust in you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you
Nice to see you
You've hardly changed, it's true
A little older
But time 's been kind to you
Do you remember a very special night
You know I do
Do you?
Alain Delon:
Oh oui, tu as bien fais d'appeler
Oh yes, you did right to call
Moi, moi je suis bouleversé
I, I am confused
Ça m'a complètement surpris, tu sais
It completely moved me, you know
To see you in Paris, no I haven't forgot yet
Either the bath in the fountain, or the dress clinging on your body
Or the words of the poem, how could I forget?
Shirley Bassey:
Lost and confused
Whatever could I do
Nothing to lose
Oh, don't you see I trust in you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you
Lost and confused
Whatever could I do
Nothing to lose
Oh, don't you see I trust in you?
Caught in the rain on such a sunny day
Caught in the rain on such a special day with you
Thought I'd Ring You, Shirley Bassey and Alain Delon
I like this song a lot. Whenever I play it, I can imagine myself somewhere in Europe (not Paris... cause Delon's part of the song is sung in French and imagining myself in Paris just corks up the imagination), sitting on a wrought-iron park bench... uhh, maybe that's not very comfortable huh... Ok, sitting on a cushioned, wrought-iron chair outside a coffee shop, in my sundress and donning a wide-brimmed hat, stiletto stumps, white kid gloves and all... heehee. I've never been to Europe, of course, but when I hear this song, it makes me think EUROPE... Delon's low, slow and sexy French drawl combined with Bassey's very cultured soprano... and the soft, non-intrusive melody in the background, like it's there just to help build up the moment... it's all very cosmopolitan, and suave but still romantic.
Just a thought... will somebody tell me exactly what 'touche' means.
