DAUGHTER'S DAY

 
There's Mother's Day, and Father's Day, and a day for the hearts, for St. Patrick's and stuff. Last Thursday, I got a card from my mom...


 

and she gave me my very own daughter's day...

 

Here's what it says...

 

My dearest Jet,

 

Greetings in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

 

It;s just a week since you left, but seems years already that I haven't seen you. Just like you, I'm missing you a lot. Miss ko yung halakhak mo, yung carinyo mo, atbp. How I wish I could be with you whenever I want to. Waiting for December is an ordeal to me. Ang tagal-tagal nun. Para bang hindi darating. Kung kaya ko lang hilain ang mga araw para December na agad eh di narito na kayo!

 

I praise and thank God for having blessed me with a daughter like you. I could not find the right words to describe how blessed I am to be your mother and how thankful I am to have you as a daughter... who inspires, encourages, loves, supports morally and emotionally and a lot more.

 

I also praise and thank God for having given you a very kind, loving and understanding husband. Saludo talaga ako sa kanya. As the Holy Spirit allows, I pray for your relationship to last and that your love light be kept brightly burning as the years roll by. I am happy, very happy, for both of you.

 

The thoughts and feelings expressed in this card are also those I would want to convey to you. I was looking for a wedding card for Len-Len (my cousin) then when I came across this card. They're really exactly what I have in mind about you. So whenever you feel homesick or miss me, just read this. Isipin mo na ako yung nagsasalita.

 

Alam mo anak, pag nakahiga na ako sa gabi at naaalala kita, tumitingin na lang ako sa picture mo, yung nasa taas ng display cabinet. At times, I look at your album so I am reminded of your life from babyhood - present. Nakakatuwa! Nakakaaliw!

 

Sige anak, ingat kayo palagi. Wag masyadong magpapagod. Always seek God's will in your lives.

 

As you buckle down to your daily chores each day, be energized by what Philippians 4:13 says, 'I can do all things through HIM who gives me strength.'

The card came with copies she made of her fish recipes.

 

Yeah well, I cried, of course, when I read the card. Who wouldn't? And I spent a good part of the afternoon moping and pining for her, wanting to go back home and just snuggle close.

 

Oh why couldn't she just have sent the recipes?
