Today is Papa's birthday and he's thir-mmm years old.
We were late going to bed cause last night was our first night here in Antipolo. We slept probably around 2 or 3 am, and it was alright. I didn't have to worry about breakfast, or schedules, or my to-do list. Everything was up for grabs... I can do anything, and everything, and nothing. I got 16 more days of this. 16 more days when the alarm clock is a gadget that in my world has yet to be invented. 16 more days when my world is a happy world.
We woke up at 8 and decided to do away with breakfast and hit the mall instead. We bought a new Christmas tree, bought some trimmings, shopped a little, he had a haircut, we had lunch and bought internet cards. I know somewhere there we decided we needed more Christmas lights but whether subconsciously or otherwise, we somehow didn't get around to doing it. Too much bad news maybe.
We got home a little past 6, showered, had dinner and tried putting all the junk we bought into one, nicely put-together mess... hahaha! Papa and I, together... on his birthday, in our house, doing the most mundane thing.
When we were done, we turned off all the lights save the Christmas lights, stood at the foot of the stairs with our arms around each other and sighed a sigh of satisfaction for a job well done.
'Ang ganda. We never had a Christmas tree as nice as that.'
I don't know. To hear that from him, it couldn't have been more special.

In line with Papa's birthday, I would like to give a major THANK YOU to Leah and husband Eder, who hosted a surprise dinner for Papa last Friday before we left. Thank you, too, to Leah's mom who did most of the cooking. I will never forget the look on Papa's face, all at once surprised and delighted. Thank you for making him so happy.
And to Christine and Ronald, thank you for being such troupers. I know it was going to be a long Saturday for you so I really appreciate your coming.
You guys, I am so grateful for you. Being friends with you is definitely one of the best things that happened to us in Singapore.
Can I just say that right now, life is really, really good.
Thank You, God.
