The Rhode Island nightclub fire... I only have one question... Who, in his proper mind, would think about using pyrotechnics in an indoor venue? It's a stupid thing to start with and the end results were fatal and tragic.
This makes me remember the Ozone Disco fire in Quezon City, March 2001... almost a hundred people died and lots more were injured. Like The Station concert club, it didn't have the proper fire prevention devices installed, and in both incidents, at least one ordinance have not been conscientiously observed.
I think people dying this way is worse than, say... people dying in war. At least war happens to prove a point, however errneous the point may be. But for people to die in a place where they went to, expecting to have a good time, expecting to relax and enjoy themselves, maybe even with the intention of celebrating a joyous occasion, only to end up getting charred... what is the point to that?
