I enjoyed so much last night. And aside from the dancing, and clapping, and howling, and singing along, I got into my favorite pastime... people watching.
A lot of those who watched were ang moh's and most of the lot were old.
For an old rock group, they had a fair share of young fans in the audience. Does that tell you something about the staying power of rock groups or would that be exclusive to groups like the Rolling Stones? And where do these young guys get the money to buy tickets for such good seats? Remind me that not everybody is a 'working class hero' (this is a Stones concert, not the Beatles... and Lennon's dead).
We had to wait a full 30 minutes for the show to start. For those 30 minutes, people kept coming and going and I mean all the time. I kept track of some of them and played a little game with myself... trying to guess where they were going... to buy a bottle of water or to the loo. If they came back without a bottle of water, then they went to the loo (hey, I can't deal with other options, I only had 30 minutes, remember?). And then I got the percentages. 30% went to buy a bottle of water, 20% went to the loo and 50% I lost track of (okay, so I'm no Dick Tracy but so what... he's old anyway... hehehe).
Almost everybody was standing for almost the entire show... and dancing... and singing... and clapping... and howling... hehehe... try that on a piano concerto... hehehe, or on the fairway just before Woods hits the ball. See what kind of tirade you'd get.
At 8:25 I had to go to the loo. The queue was not so bad but it still was 5 minutes to showtime. Damn, but I couldn't hold my darm piss. I missed the opening.
While I was in the queue, the lights went up and the drums started to roll. Everybody and everybody came rushing to their seats... it was like in college, when everybody would be in the hallway by the lockers, and when the first bell rings, everybody went rushing to their rooms. It was quite a sight (geez, what a netaholic I've become... for a while there I doubted whether it was 'sight' or 'site').
Right now, it's dark grey and raining and 'If You Remember Me' by Chris Thompson (one of my accidental downloads) is playing. How nostalgic could an atmosphere be?
During the show, the girls beside me stood up and went down to the aisle and danced. Unfortunately, they blocked the view of two ang mo women seated behind where they were standing. The older of the two women tapped the nearest girl and signaled her to move away, and if you could put a voice and words to the motions, I'd say they didn't come as a gentle request either. Tsk, tsk... it's only a rock show lady and they were only having fun. No wonder we got a war going.
Mick Jagger doesn't look bad gyrating the way he did last night, with all of 59 years behind him. If we saw local talents doing this in the Philippines, we would call it 'baduy.'
That Liza girl has a fantastic voice. Why is she only singing back-up?
It was a great show... and again, why only now?!?
Time flies when you're having fun... it was a very short two hours. I haven't done the last of my dance routines and already the two hours were up. If this is going to be the only rock concert I will ever see in my lifetime, it would have been really short.
They only made one encore... Elton John made as many as three.
And again, it still beats me how easily one can commute in Singapore. All we needed to get a cab home was a phone call.
While waiting for our ride, I saw a couple smooching by the stairs, further back from the road. Ooppss... there goes your cab smoochies!... teehee
Scott Adams said: "Live in the moment until the moment goes away." Well, I have, thank you.
But now it's late and I'm tired and sleepy. Can't deal with more 'jumping jack flashes.' Good night.
