This morning, when I turned on the pc, I can't get to my Outlook Express. So I did some checks and noticed that there were only two blinking lights on my modem... the power and receive lights. Ut-oh... trouble, trouble... so my engineer (Papa dear) comes to the rescue. See, last weekend he fixed the cables to put in longer ones, so now the modem is beside the cable box and tv which we leave on stand-by power 24 hours a day. Prior to this, the modem was on the computer table, and we do switch off the electrical outlet for the pc at night before turning in. I was wondering if it's not bad for the modem to be running all day and night (never getting switched off at all)... I mean, burning it for 24 hours must exhaust it somehow... I don't know, just a thought. So I suggested switching the modem off, and switching it back on. And it worked.
Geez... when I realized my modem wasn't working and thought it was in trouble and I couldn't have internet for sometime, or even for a moment when I wanted it... man, that was panic moment for me. Made me think... I lose the internet and it causes me grief? Something must be amiss...
