I've mentioned, in a feedback I made on my previous entry, that I'm currently reading 'Portrait in Sepia' by Isabel Allende. It's one of those family saga I like reading a lot of and it's set at the end of the 19th century amidst the civil war and the coming of age, not only of the individual characters in the story, but of Chilean society as well. It's a nice story, if a bit lengthy, involving family secrets revealed in bits and pieces, in the hope of getting a sense of one's history. It's got a lot of local color (Chile's), which is made authentic by the fact that Ms. Allende was raised in the country.
Papa has his comic books and Michael Crichton to keep him company.

Lately, Papa and I have been enjoying a meal he makes quite well... bacon fried easy, sunny side-ups and poached tomatoes. I think it's remarkable how he even takes so much care in peeling the tomatoes before serving them, something I wouldn't have thought of doing myself... hehe. Well, he makes a mighty mess in the kitchen but I don't mind, I do enjoy the meal.
I remember the first time he made it... I was so touched. I was all bent on sprucing up the house a bit, that was the time we were having some Filipino friends over. I didn't have time to make lunch at all. He had to go to the supermarket to pick up a couple of things and came home with 2 packs of bacon and some eggs.
I know it was a tad thoughtless of me (so it's official, I do get fazed sometimes) but I was a bit perturbed that he wanted me to cook amidst everything. And then he announced that he was making lunch.
It was the best meal I've had in weeks. Oh, before I forget... he even did the dishes. How's that?

And then he sings to me...

And China awaits us...

awww Lau... you don't mean the $200-crab you brought home the last time? I loved those crabs but it's really way too much. But I must say... I almost can't wait... hehehe.
Thanks a lot.
Best regards to you, Vivien and Tien-tien. Do keep well.
Jet

Yeap. You are lucky that CK decided to change the location to Kunming. It is a better place to go.
