ON MY FATHER'S PREMISES

I found this, the Jaycee Creed, written in one of my father's earlier journals.

that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life
that brotherhood of men transcends the sovereignty of nations
that economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise
that government should be of laws rather than of men
that earth's great treasure lies in human personality and
that service to humanity is the best work of life

I look back to his life, as I've been doing a lot of these days, and I recognize how his conduct has generally approximated these principles. I realize that his was not an easy life, but there was order in it, and there was discipline. There was fortitude and in every difficulty, he found meaning. There was kindness. And in the backdrop of reticence, there was love.

Very well, sir. In this manner I will carry on.

indeed... indeed... for what would life be if lived in the cocoon one has made around himself?

gusto ko rin yung tungkol sa service to humanity, mylab. the first step of course is service to family.

in both cases, ginawa ito ng daddy.

"It's in the simplest existence,in the humblest company and in the emptiest moments that I learned to appreciate what I had... and find happiness right where I was. I didn't have to reach far and dream big. One can only be as big as one sees oneself. The world will always be bigger still... and God, even more."
